Sophie Schmitz, Managing Director of Partners4Access participated in an international run to raise money and awareness on International Rare Diseases Day (28th February 2017). The run was in support of Sanofi Genzyme’s campaign.
Sophie completed a 12km run this morning along a route that followed the scenic environs of the river Rhine.
Sophie’s achievement will add to Sanofi Genzyme’s collective target of 7000 miles that will lead to a donation to the NIH Undiagnosed Diseases Network.
There are 6,000-7,000 rare diseases and many more are being discovered everyday. Most rare diseases are difficult to diagnose and have no cure. Patients can suffer years of tests for an appropriate diagnosis.
At Partners4Access, we have a long tradition of supporting initiatives on rare diseases. In December last year, we sponsored Hilversum Rotary Club Santa Run that supported the Dutch Kidney Foundation and Toy Donations for Underprivileged Children. Also in 2016, we pledged funds for `end of year’ cards and gifts to instead be donated to a charitable cause.
